1. Introduction
Unlike the Wafer Type Butterfly Valve that is sandwiched between the flanges on the pipes, the Lug Type Butterfly Valve has “ears” over the entire circumference of the body, which are known as lugs: these are threaded tapped lugs positioned on the valve for bolt connections; typically there are 8 or 12 lugs where 4 or 6 lugs are used to mount the valve to the flanges on the pipe.
Due to this unique design of connection, the Lug Butterfly Valve is suitable for end-of-line service but a blind flange is always recommended.
According to the position of the valve stem, there are lug concentric butterfly valves and lug eccentric butterfly valves. The zero offset butterfly valve of lug type is more popular and usually comes with resilient seat.

3. Applications
The Lug Style Butterfly Valve can be used to open, close, and control the flow. As we mentioned before, its unique design of end connection makes it available as a stopper, a tap for discharging at the end of the pipeline.
It’s worth mentioning that the Lug Type Butterfly Valve is more suitable for applications with large temperature differences: as the Lug Butterfly Valve is attached to flanges on both sides with separate and shorter bolts, the chance of relaxation through thermal expansion is smaller.
4. Advantages of our products
Less temperature impact: as we mentioned before, due to its unique end connection type, there’s less impact of the temperature differences.
Simple maintenance: our lug-type butterfly valve is designed to attach to the pipes with separate sets of bolts; besides, with the threaded tapped lugs, there’s no need of using nuts. In this way, if one side of the piping system gets disconnected, the other side won’t be disturbed.
Good sealing effect: our Lug Style Butterfly Valve is featured by a great variety of rubber materials, such as NBR, EPDM, PTFE, etc. This resilient material offers a better sealing for this lug concentric butterfly valve.
